Exclamation Just so you all know... Paypal scam alert

I'd imagine some of you have a pay pal account here... I got an email over the weekend claiming to be from PayPal. It claims that in order to prevent stolen credit cards from being used, you need to register your debit card with them.

Do NOT under any circumstance do this!

It's a scam to get your checking account information as well as enough personal information to bleed your life dry.

If you did this, immediately have your account closed and the money transferred to a new account to be safe, and have blocks put on any incoming debits.

This is a highly serious warning, I hope that no one fell for this. It's been reported to PayPal and the FBI.

Thanks for the information, but it is about a year late, mate. Most people of sense know this, and those with heightened sense simply do not deal with paypal at all.

The best advice on this is do not open email from anyone unless you know the address to be from that person. Paypal would not email you such things, but that information, too, is older than dirt...

I just got the email Saturday, so someone's at it again. I know it's recycled, but it's out there again.

Yeah, pay pal is quite the shady organization. Too bad there are not many alternatives.

I got that exact email about a week ago, so even if this is just recycled, it is happening again and it is happening now. Makes me wish I hadn't tied my iTunes account to paypal.

I have used PayPal for many years and have never had a problem. However, I am extremely careful about who I deal with online and what e-mail I open, so that might be some of the reasons why I've not had any problems with them.

I think the majority of people who have this sort of problems on-line (and not just with PayPal) are not careful enough when using the Internet. I do a lot of research before I deal with an online company of any sort. Nor do I visit sites that require a lot of personal information just to view their site content. You need to be just as careful about navigating the Internet as you do in real life.

Just to be clear... this scam is not being done by PayPal, but by someone pretending to represent PayPal in order to get your account information and wipe out your checking account.

PayPal is trying to fight this and are not to be blamed in any way.

I had gotten one (and still do) about how an e-mail account has been added to mine and to verify it! LOL!!! it wanted me to log into my account to verify it ,which with a simple mouse over showed the actual URL at the bottom of the browser which was not paypal. it was reported but i still get the same e-mail....what noob scammers.
